Hello Bristol Music Industry Network!
My name is Moy McKayle and I manage the external partnerships and the industry placement schemes for the Department of Music at the University of Bristol. Next academic year we are launching a brand new professional development/placement unit called Professional Development in Music unit for our final year Undergraduate students.
I would like to connect with organisations and individuals who would benefit from the contribution of student volunteers. The scheme is a great opportunity for our students to share their skills and learn from experienced professionals in industry and contribute positively to projects and activities that support your work. The placement schemes are an opportunity for knowledge exchange and are intended to benefit both students and partners. There is a lot of scope for what the placement opportunities can be and our students interests are varied so I am happy to work with you to develop any initial ideas you have.
Key Information
- Placements are undertaken are for academic credit.
- Students undertake placement for at least 75 hours (work pattern agreed directly with the student)
- Placements can take place any time during the period January – April 2026 (start date to be agreed with student directly)
- You have the option to host one student or a group of students.
- UoB recruited opportunities are competitive and students apply for opportunities with a CV and Cover letter. You have the option to review applicants and shortlist/ or we can manage the process and match you with a student(s).
- You are not required to supervise assignments or assessments. At the end of the placement all that is required is that you complete a short form to confirm the student has completed their hours.
If this sounds like an opportunity you’d like to get involved with please send an email to express your interest to sart-placements@bristol.ac.uk (before 31st August 2025) and I will schedule an initial online Teams meeting to tell you more about the scheme and discuss your initial ideas.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes
