Jelli Records Ltd

Jelli Records Ltd (JRL) is a small independent Bristol based record label, stage and artist management support company. We have curated and managed prestigious stages at the; Bristol Harbour Festival; the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta; Redfest and Keynsham Music Festivals and have worked with Richmond Events Management, Keynsham Town Council, The Bristol Beacon (formerly Colston Hall), BBC Radio 6 Music, Swans Events, The National Trust and Bath and Northeast Somerset Council.

JRL started in 2008 by founders Steve Parkhouse and Jhassi Elliott. Steve was later joined by Brian Inglis in 2013 as a co-director. Contrary to its name, JRL is not a traditional record company, it does not have onsite recording facilities.

JRL’s main areas of operation are:
• Artist Support – providing performance opportunities for artists.
• Stage Management – Curating and managing stages.
• Promotion – Organising live music events.
• Consultancy – Providing training workshops to up-and-coming artists.
• The Jelli Hours Radio Show – Providing airplay for many local artists.

Artist Support: We have a small number of artists whom we support by providing performance opportunities in order to give them wider exposure to the market. This may be by providing gigs, festival spots, including Glastonbury and radio appearances on our own show and BBC Radio Bristol.

Stage Management: One of JRL’s main strengths is in Stage Management expertise, which is very much ‘hands on’ and that is why we have such a good reputation in this field – we run stages to time!

Promotions: Concert promotions also played a part in developing the company name in the past and continue to do so.

Consultancy: JRL activities also include a music management consultancy service, providing workshops. These are unique, as normally the only way an individual would have access to the topics covered would be to attend a full-time course. The workshops can also be taken into schools and colleges and are delivered by a working musician(s). This aspect is particularly useful in supporting the work of Bmin.

Jelli Hours Radio Show. JRL also has a radio show, ‘The Jelli Hours Radio Show’, which goes out on KTCR FM serving Keynsham and east Bristol. It also goes out on BSR FM, serving North Bristol and South Gloucestershire. One of the aims of the show is to promote original music from local artists as well as some from further afield.

Comments about BMIN

Jelli Records (Steve Parkhouse) was a founding member of Bmin some twelve years ago and has continued to support the work of Bmin. Through Bmin, Jelli Records has made a very useful contact with 13 Sound Studio (Ken Lintern), who we use as our preferred recording studio.
